I have seen this name on Russian name lists as a "pre-Christian Slavic name" meaning, "tea," which I suppose linguistically makes sense in modern Russian. A bit of googling took me to several people of Tatar origin with this name, but I don't see any ethnic Russian people that use this name. Is there any evidence that this is a legitimate old Slavic name? Or is this most likely Tatar?
