Seeking meaning, origin etc. for two names
I have been looking for a meaning and origin for my name, Payana, for quite some time now, but with no real luck.
Most sites on the net containing the word/name Payana is in Spanish, so my guess is that it is of Spanish origin, but I'm not sure.
By the way I'm female and come from Denmark.
The other name I seek information about is Neeva, also female, is Russian and Armenian on mother's side, Czech on father's side and born in Egypt.
The e's are pronounced like the E in España (Spain).
I hope there's someone out there who can help me with this.

Well, I am not sure that this is the origin of your name, but "payana" is a word used in the northeast of Argentina and Uruguay to mean "the game of jacks." The word was derived from the Quechua word "pállay" which means "to collect (from the ground)."
As for Neeva, the closest word I know of is the Portuguese word "neva." "Neva" is the present indicative tense of the verb "nevar" which means "to snow."
Hope this helps!
