column on Ethan
I usually don't post links to my column here, but thought I would in honor of US election day.

I was really surprised that Ethan was no more common in the early 19th century than names like Heman, Laban, and Ichabod despite Ethan Allen's fame. By the way, Ethan Allen himself had a brother named Heman, and other brothers named Heber, Levi, Zimri, and Ira.

Sigh,
the column (and in fact the complete newspaper) aren't available to readers located in the European Union declaring "legal reasons" with the European Data Protection Act as a reason.

You can send me an email in a private message and I would be happy to send you a copy of the column the way I originally wrote it before the newspaper edited it.
