i am unable to get any help as to the origin of this name, each search infact focuses on john-paul the second (the former pope) :(

It's not one name; it's two names together. John and Paul, like two first names. Click the names for their individual meanings.

Edited to add that I doubt he picked them for their etymological meanings but moreso for the saints who bore those names before him.
