Re: submitted name Lori
in reply to a message by elbowin
I deleted it and I did give a reason; it's in the revision history-- I felt it was the same as database name and the submitter could simply add a comment to the database name "Also can be a diminutive for Dolores or Dolorosa". What is different about it otherwise?

Ah, I see. I have further edited the entry to make the cultural difference more clear.
I have no problems when the additional information is added to main database entry; short forms are prone to have more than one etymology and disentangling them systematically is probably not worth the effort.

I submitted it because it deserves to be included on the main database alongside the other usages, and the way to draw attention to that is by submitting it. I have in fact already commented on the database name with these other usages, but if I want Dolores and Dolorosa to be eventually considered for inclusion on the database Lori alongside Laura and Lorraine which are already there, I must submit so this can be seen! Otherwise, I suppose I can submit it as a "correction" to an existing given name. If desired, I can do that. I am only trying to ensure that this usage is included somewhere on here, lol.
It will still be considered for submission when added as a comment on the original name. There is no need for a duplicate of the name in this instance, and I am in agreement with Rachel Shaina that it be deleted. The information has been added to the contribution section "bearers" under Lori.
