This is just a guess, but it may come from Bryn , which is Welsh meaning "hill" or "mound". Maybe Brynne is a feminine spelling of the male name.

I think Sarahjeanne is right. My baby name book has it listed as a form of Bryn , which in LAtin means "from the boundry line" and in Welsh means "mound". Hope this helps.
