Portuguese name Ilídio
Does anybody know the etymology of this name? Quick googling suggests it is the Portuguese form of a Latin name Ilidius, but I'm not sure how much evidence there is for this. I'd be grateful for any thoughts.

It seems that there is a catholic saint Illidius, buried at Clermont, France, with many variant name forms and spellings of his name. None of the various spellings suggest an immediate interpretation of the meaning of the name.

Thanks for the response! I believe Saint Illidius is the same as Saint Allyre, which looks like a form of Hilaire. I wonder if it might be plausible that the Portuguese name comes from this as well, or whether the two just became conflated...
