Egofayth
Does anyone know the origin and meaning of the name Egofayth, given to a girl in England in 1590. I searched online and found one individual today, a male, with a similar name -- Egofaith.

I found this thread because I was trying to find the same answer. You must be referring to Egofayth Latham. She's the only one I can find online!
1590? That is shocking. It sounds like a name a hipster parent would give their child today.
I'm almost certain that it simply comes from "ego" and "faith."

Did "ego" mean the same thing in Early Modern English?
