Does anyone know the meaning of my name?It is a derivative of the saint name Damian but i wish to belive that it has a separate meaning all for its own.any information you can give would be very useful

I'm afraid that our resident Greek, Pavlos , may confirm that your name is indeed a feminine form of "Damian ", which means "to tame".
If it's any consolation, your name has been an element in the names of several notable women of classical mythology (Pavlos will have to check on my guesses as to the meaning of each of these names):
1. Astydameia ("star-tamer"?) Grandmother of Hercules .
2. Deidameia ("god-tamer"?) Daughter of Bellerophon.
3. Laodameia ("tamer of the people"?) Nurse of Orestes.
4. Hippodameia - ("horse-tamer"?) Another name for the goddess Aphrodite , when connected with horses.

*Yes* on all accounts, Nan -- except Astydameia Nan for which I hold a reservation :))
"Asty" means city or town. So Astydameia would most probably imply "tamer" or "ruler" of a city.
