I came across the British actress Matyelok Gibbs' name recently, and I'm a bit perplexed by it. I've never seen Matyelok before in my life. Does anyone have a clue what it means? I'm trying to look it up online, but all I get are the actress' résumé / portfolio and knockoff baby name sites with blank origins and definitions.

Sorry, I can't find anything. If you haven't already read it on some bios, it's apparently a Russian name taken from the maternal side of her family. Some submitted name poster said it might be a diminutive. Maybe it's a diminutive of the Russian name Matvei? Matya and Matyushka are some diminutives of Matvei, sort of looks like her name?
