Oh, that's interesting. (I love the Emily books by the way.) Funnily enough, when I was reading those books, I read it as "Ilse", (ill-sss,) but I knew it had to be different. I thought it might be ill-see, my friend thought it was ell-see. But now that you guys mention it, il-zuh does sound right.
