I'm a bit puzzled about Aileen.
It's said that it is the Scottish version of Aveline, as EibhlÍn is in Irish. But I'm sure Aileen must be an anglicisation, equivalent to Eileen.
In this case, does anyone know what the original Scots Gaelic would have been for Aileen?
