Searching for history of a name
I am tying to find out anything about the last name Krizel.

I believe it may come from the Bohemian region of the Czech Republic. I found immigration records of a Krizel family coming from a place called "Boema".

In German "kritzel(n)" means to scrawl. So the first Mr Krizel may have been someone with a bad handwriting. If the name is of German origin at all. I checked a German online directory: no Krizels or Kritzels in any big city I checked. How do you pronounce name? KRIT-sel? CRIE-zel?
Another (crazy) idea would be a metathesis from Kristel/Christel: Kristel > Kritsel > Kritzel > Krizel. Don't quote me on this one, but I have seen strange things happen to names.
Or maybe something Slavonic? - I'm lost.
