Persinna
I encountered this name while reading Aethiopica by Heliodorus of Emesa. It's the name of the mother of the main character, Chariclea. I'm guessing that the name is of Greek origin, since the -inna ending occurs in a number of Greek female names (like Korinna), plus most of the other characters in the novel have Greek names.
Does anyone have a clue to what the name Persinna means?

While waiting for a more authoritative answer, I am going to guess that it means "woman from Persia."
My second guess would be that it is related to the male name PERSEUS.
