Just noting that "cara" does not mean lover in Irish. It means friend (lover is leannán), so Os-car(a) basically means 'deer friend' not deer lover.

The old english osgar is completely different also, there is no confusion over the origin of Oscar, it's from Irish mythology, son of Oisin (little deer).
