Of course, honor and love are related semantically, both express some kind of estimation or appreciation. However,"geehrt" means "honored, venerated" in
German, not "loved, beloved". Grimms dictionary also gives vereri (to fear), parcere (to spare) and ignoscere (to forgive) as additional meanings for "ehren", however, not love. This may have been different in
Dutch in the times of
Erasmus. We would have to ask a specialist in
German studies about that, I am afraid.
