I love this name and would love to know the ethnic background. It sounds French or Dutch to me but I can't be sure. Please help!

According to Santi e Fanti by Enzo La Stella T., Miétta is a pet form of several different Italian names, including Eufemia, Emilia, and Amalia. My Dutch name dictionary implies that it is used as a telescoped form of Marietta in the Netherlands.
