Re: AMIAS

Amias has a nice sound to it and makes a nice first name. The name base suggests that it is a Medieval name derived from Latin amicus meaning "friend". Amice was a popular name in the Middle Ages, though it has since become uncommon. There is a medieval French poem called 'Amis and Amiles' that is about two friends who make sacrifices for one another. Edmund Spenser used the name Amyas for a minor character in his epic poem 'The Faerie Queene' (1590).
