Would this name ever be used as a stand-alone, like
Kate
, or is it strictly a nickname for
Cornelius
?
#Kees

At least in the Netherlands, it is also used as a standalone name. Today, the baby name
Kees
is more popular than the full form
Cornelius
.
See

(plug in
Cees
,
Cornelius
, and Kornelius in the place of
Kees
to see more interesting data).
