Selah
Hi there! I posted on the other board about Selah, but afterwards I found more info on it. According to the web site I found it on, Selah is a Hebrew boy's name and means "pause". I was really surprised to hear it isn't a girl's name! Does anyone know anything about this name, including how it's pronounced? Thank you very much!

Found in Psalms this word is pronounced "Say-lah" and means "Pause and reflect". Personally I find it to be sweet and it gives you a chance to pause and reflect on life's gifts by placing it as a name on a child. Rather a warm thought, if you ask me.

Whatever it means, and this is by no means certain, it's a musical annotation (like fff or andante). In the book of psalms you'll often find it at the end of a section, so Pause would be a sensible meaning; I don't know if it's being used as a name in modern Israel either.
However, there's no mystery about it being a boy name. In English we're used to female names ending in -a, but if you think about Hebrew names like Joshua and Micah, there's no reason why this should be a rule in other languages.
