Aleria, Aléria
I'm looking for the meaning of the girls' name Aleria/Aléria.
Aleria is the name of a town on the island of Corsica, France, which over the centuries has been used as a feminine given name off and on. In recent years Aleria (sometimes spelt Aléria, the French form of the town's name) has also found some usage in mainland France.
I've done a little research on the origins of this name, but all I've found were some rather dubious looking websites. Some of these sites claim that Aleria is a Latin name meaning "eagle-like" or "resembling an eagle", others state it might mean something along the lines of "high laurel" or "high laureate". Both of these meanings seem like a stretch to me, especially since none of the sites give any etymology whatsoever.
I have also read that Aleria was the name the Romans gave to the town. Its "original" Ancient Greek name seems to have been Ἀλαλίη (Alaliē).
So I suppose what I'm really looking for are both the meanings of Aleria and Ἀλαλίη, Alaliē.
I know that this is a rather specific question so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Ancient localities often have names in the original language of the inhabitants, which is only modified to fit the colonists' way of speaking and writing - in this case Ionian Greek. Even many, if not most, toponyms in Greece proper have an origin pre-dating Greek, and are thus almost indecipherable.
