Our son is named Schuyler. It is pronounced Skyler. It means scholar. We got it from a baby name book. It is the original spelling. We have been told all other ways of spelling Schuyler are made up. I believe it is Danish.

It is Dutch in origin, but it's usage as a first name is exclusively (?) Anglo-Saxon. As for the original pronunciation, it sounds something like [skhowler] - you can listen to a person from the Netherlands saying it in this page (just search for "Schuyler"): http://www.heardutchhere.net/dureq.html
The other spellings are influenced by the word sky - so they could in theory be interpreted as a different name all together (much like Skyla, Skylie, and so on).
