Both names are used, even though Gema is very rare - only 5 women registered as such between 1920 and 1980 (probably because it coincides with the word for "egg yolk" - but in the earilier 20th century almost all women had Maria as their first name, so there could be a couple more called "Maria Gema").
Flor is becoming popular again, and it is often used in a double name like Ana Flor or Maria Flor.

(Keep in mind that many of those names were used in cases where at least one of the parents is a foreigner and so they wouldn't be allowed for an average Portuguese child.)
