Elita
Does anyone have any more information about the Latvian name Elita? The database just states that the meaning is unknown.
Wiktionary says "First recorded as a given name of Latvians during 1850 - 1875. Possibly from French élite (“elite”), or a phonetic coinage". I could be wrong, but I find the idea of someone coining a name based on the word "elite" unlikely.
The Latvian statistics board has some information on Elita, but the "meaning" listed for it seems to be a Kabalarians-type analyis and not a proper etymological defintion.
