It's a variant of Tadhgán and/or Teagan or Taegan, a diminutive of Tadhg
The ae it looks like the diphthong æ (pronounced as in 'cat' or e according to my Old and Middle English textbooks)
But more likely it's pronounced as the ae in the word Gaelic (Gay-lik or Gah-lick)
- TAY-gen
- TAY-gan
- TAY-gehn
- TAY-ghan
- TAY-ghen
- TEE-gen
- TEE-gan
- TEE-gehn
- TEE-ghan
- TEE-ghen
- TIEG-en
- TIEG-an
- TIEG-ehn
- TIEG-han
- TIEG-hen
All sound fine to me, I think it's a personal preference. I've heard and seen various ways to pronounce this name (and also for Teagan, Taegan, Teaghan)
I have also seen Teagan pronounced TEE-Gun, I didn't like the 'gun' sound at the end, especially when the G is pronounced hard. One guy actually pronounced it T-Gun (in a Southern/Texan accent, it sounded like he was calling for his weapon)
Personally I prefer the TAY- sound, but I listen to most of the pronunciations except for TEE-Gun, TIE-gun, T-Gun or Teggen.
