Albanian Rita?
Does the name Rita have any meaning in Albanian? Just there is a singer in the UK called Rita Ora, and she was born in Kosovo and is of Kosovar Albanian ethnicity, so I'm wondering if the name also has an Albanian origin.
Or is her name just from the English Rita?

Rita means « grew » in Albanian; it’s a variant of « rrit » which means to grow. Meaning, grow as in age, but also grow things such as plants/gardening etc.
I grew — « U rita »
You grew — « U rite »
We grew — « u ritem »
It’s a beautiful name. Another beautiful name is Ina (pronounced ee-na, rhymes with Nina)

The meaning always stays the same. And the name isn't just English... click on the link Rita.
Well, there are cases where there is a name with the exact same spelling, as e.g. Rita in the case at hand, but with an independent and completely different etymology, making it for the purposes here a "different" name, with another meaning then, according to the alternative etymology.
After all Rita is mostly popular in Christian countries, and Albania is a predominantely Muslim country.
So I tried to find out something about a native Albanian Rita with another derivation than the Margherita one, but was not successful. First, the normal Rita always gets in the way, and second there is not much material on the net about Albanian names anyway.

Do you know the religious background of the person you are talking about? Because in this case it sounds like Rita is derived from some form of Margaret.
While most Albanians are Muslim many are also Christian. There is a large Albanian community where I live and the majority are actually Christian(catholic).
