Thanks for the post. I agree with your pronunciation (Cathal-ah). There is very little information out there on this name and it has intrigued me for some time where it fits in history (origin, people and meaning). Most research points to French origins, although some suggest it is Celtic – which is also a strong possibility; but then again the most common modern use of the name is as a French surname. I’d love to solve this puzzle, so any further information would be appreciated.
