Variations/Different Spellings of Syriana
:) Just need to know if you can think of any.. It's sort-of a made-up kind of name, perhaps from the recent movie, but that only means that it isn't in the database. Thank you.

I thought it was just an elaboration of "Syria" (or "Syrian"). Wikipedia has a discussion on Syria's meaning: http://snipurl.com/m2v7. I recommend also following the links to Assyria and Assur.
In short, if you believe Syria's a short form of Assyria, then Syria ultimately means "land" in Hebrew. It would go like this: Asshur (Ashur) (Hebrew) -> Aššur (Ashur) (Assyrian) -> Assyria -> Syria. Hebrew Letters supports this theory, as it also says Asshur's the Hebrew word fo "Assyria", and that Asshur was the supposed ancestor of the Assyrians: http://tinyurl.com/8ckxj.
