How to pronounce Llewellyn??
I found the name Llewellyn in one of my baby names. It claims it to be English and mean "firey" or "swift", but it has no pronunciation. Does anyone know?-Seda*

I was told you should pronounce it as "Lou-Ellen" :-)

Well, first off, the meaning's absolutely false. Just follow Llewellyn's links here to see the true meaning. The pronunciation as I've always heard it is surprisingly straightforward: LEW-wel-lin.I believe the pronunciation's the same whether it's Llewelyn or Llywelyn.Miranda

Welsh pronounciation = hloo-el-in, and...the double ll should only be at the beginning.

Oh, and..Speaking as someone who has a PhD. in the subject, the BTN meaning is wrong. The name is just Llyw 'lion' + the diminutive endings -el-in (like Joscelin or Lancelin). No Lugh or Belenos at all, despite the celty sounding ness of it all.
