I agree with Meriel. Most names that end in "-dt" are gonna be German. The example you use certainly would be (I lived there two years and feel pretty comfortable on this one).
I also think Last names ending with "dt" are German by origin. Although I can't say it with 100% certainty. Its definitely more German than Dutch or Belgian.
Probably Germany, because the "dt" element is in a lot of German words. But I'm not sure.
Just figured out from Mike C's list that your name is of Greek origin, meaning "fragrant" :)
