Well,on a hunch I googled "tequana" and found a soul hit from 1977 by "Ingram" called "Mi Sabrina Tequana (My Sister's Daughter)" ..

Heh. To the best of my knowledge, "mi sabrina tequana" doesn't mean much in any language but then, I don't know any language besides English. Anyway, depending on when and where you were born, your name could have been influenced by "tequana." Just a guess. I didn't find any other sources for "tequana" in my quickie search.

How old are you? What is your ethnic background? Have you asked your parents where they found the name?
The best guess without any of the above information is that Tayquana is simply an African-American creation. It certainly fits the form of hundreds of other names which have been invented in the African-American community since the 1960s. -quana has been a fairly productive suffix for such names the last 20 years.
