It probably does mean "holy", but remember, the Greek myths were created thousands of years ago, and meanings of names can be lost to history. Many of the names from Greek mythology have meanings that are not known.

Almost all of the Greek names on here have meanings. Names very similar to Evadne have meanings. I know the ''eu/ev'' means ''good.''
