You sound like a very compassionate person, Elaine, to be thinking of the children upon whom these parents inflicted their ignorance. But laughing at these ridiculous names doesn't mean that others are less compassionate. :)
Who knows? Perhaps where these children lived and were growing up in the 1930s and 1940s, others might've thought these were cool names. And, when these children got older, moved out of their insulated society and moved on, perhaps they even changed their names.
Or maybe some of them even grew up liking their names. Scary thought, huh? :)
