If you made the names up, or didn't know the meaning, you shouldn't feel bad about not knowing the meaning. The meaning is, your son is unique and you knew of no name that existed that you felt could identify him just right; so you made one up yourself -- and it means whatever you say it means. One's own mother's creativity is a perfectly honorable name origin.
For many people, especially those you're likely to meet on this site, it is very meaningful to have a name that has a traceable meaning connecting it with human culture and history, and so connects a person's identity with the world we share.
If you chose your children's names for another reason that was meaningful to you, and didn't consider the traditional meaning, there's nothing wrong with that. Your children's lives will connect the names with the world.
