I don't know what's happening in Dutch naming circles, but here in South Africa it's hardly used at the moment. Had its day, though - in the nineteenth century, mostly, when the President of the South African Republic, Paul Kruger, married a woman called Gezina: the capital of his little country was Pretoria, and one of its suburbs is called Gezina to this day, in her honour.
