I like my Surname (Freeman)- kind of has a nice ring to it. But where does it really originate from? I wonder if it affects my personality, or maybe even influenced why I got into the music business.

It could have a few origins, depending on your ancestry. See here for English, Irish, French, and German origins: http://www.answers.com/topic/freeman-4 If you're African-American, it was also a name taken by some free slaves to commemorate their new status.
