Name pronunciation
How do you pronounce the Welsh name Dafydd (David)? Is it DAH-vith or DAY-vith, or something else entirely? Thanks for any help.

I *think* (but don't quote me on this) that it's pronounced DAH-vid, as the double 'd' make a 'd' sound in Welsh, whereas a single d makes a 'th' sound.
I could have got that back to front, but I'm pretty sure it's right.

hi yes you do kinda have it back to front, I just found this website today and its great. I live in Wales and also have a friend called Dafydd, its actually pronounced Dah-vith but if you look at that word you may pronounce it wrong, I'll explain what I mean. "dd" in Welsh is actually a single letter and its like a softer way of saying the Englsh version of "th", in the way the word "the" starts if you get what I mean, "the" starts with a soft "th" whereas a word like "health" for example ends in a hard "th". So to sum it all up lol, the way to pronounce it is Dah-vith but as if it was a soft "th" at the end.
