Löb?
Levi Strauss was born Löb Strauß in 1829 in Buttenheim, Germany to Jewish parents. He changed his first name to Levi after immigrating to the US. I have never heard Löb as a FN before and would like to know its meaning, origin and whether it is related to Levi or not. Any information would be very much appreciated.
What I found out: Löb or Loeb (alternative spelling) seem to have been common German-Jewish surnames. Pronunciation would be LUUB in German and LOB in English.
