I came across this name in The Source by James Michner. It is an anglicised version of a Hebrew name. It is found in the Bible, the name of a brook in a small ravine. I believe it means "a cut", i.e. the cut in the earth made by the brook. We use the "care-ith" pronouciation. I called my daughter Kerith Amanda.
