Is the name Rigel pronounced with a hard G, or with a soft one (to rhyme with Nigel)?

I've only ever heard it rhymed with Nigel! And that is the first, and therefore preferred, pronunciation given by Collins dictionary, though it does provide the hard-G version as its second choice.

I know a Rigel, and he pronounces it to rhyme with Nigel.

Agree. And it was pronunced that way in Farscape

but then again, that's a sci-fi television program. :-D
