We've chosen Magallanes (mag-ay-YAWN-ess) as the mn for our son, who's to be born in April. It's a family name. Middle name for a couple generations and then a family surname. But I can't find much about it. I've been told that it came from Magellan(sp?) the explorer. Though it was... a different name then. Not the English version. Our version, Magallanes, as far as I know is Spanish. I was wondering if anyone could track down a meaning or history of the name for me. Or knew off hand anything about it.
