Isai
Does anyone know the origin or mening of this name. I dont know how to pronounce it in English, but in spanish its EE-saah-ee, its a male name. I thought it may be a short form of Isaiah, but my friend, Isai, says that it's Biblical, though I'm not sure if that's correct. I read it might be some kind of variant of Jesse, but I dont know if thats true. Any help is appreciated.
Thanx,

I would like to know the meaning and origin of this name.
I just saw that JESSLYN was some time ago, so here the part once more:
JESSE is a given name today, in the Hebrew bible it is YISHAI (he was the father of King David; in German bibles his name is ISAI) and of doubtful meaning: It could mean "exsisting, alive" (referring to God or maybe to the child), or else "masculine, manly". Some try to see a short form of the name God "Jahweh" in YISHAI, others claim it is a short form Isaiah (YESHAYAHU meaning "Jahweh saves").
