I'm not sure if this is a "real" name or not, but I'd like any information anyone may have to offer.
I just today remembered reading it in the novel Ferris Beach, by Jill McCorkle. It's a feminine name. In the novel, it was the name of a girl in a local legend who, at around the turn of the 20th century, drowned in the sea on the coast of North Carolina (at least, I think it was North Carolina. Could've been Virginia). The legend was the inspiration for the character Mo Rhodes when she named her daughter, Misty.
I realize that information is probably irrelevant as far as finding out about the name itself, but it is all I know.
I'd appreciate any information. I realize there's the possibility that the name was just made up either by McCorkle or by someone in the recent past. If that's the case, it would have no "meaning," but I'd still be interested to know it's history.
Thanks a lot!
Michelle
