Zephne, reprise
I asked a while ago if anyone had information about the origin of the name: Zephne. Nobody did!
Now I'm wondering if there could perhaps be a link with the biblical prophet Zephaniah. Not a common name; but the look-up gives this: 'From the Hebrew name צְפַנְיָה (Tzefanyah) meaning "YAHWEH has hidden".'
Ze + ph=f + n + vowel, with the vowel tweaked in line with Greek names like Daphne and Chloe, perhaps?
I'd be interested to know if any Hebrew experts have a theory about this.

This is only my opinion, but my first thought was that it was a feminine Greek name similar to Zephyr/Zephyrus, god of the west wind. I'm not an expert in the area, though.
Where did you find this name? My husband and I fell in love with it after I read your last post. There could be a little Zephne in our family one day.
