I'm not an expert and I know Devonelisa can answer this best but I do believe the consonants are pronounced the same as in English. There are no diphthongs and each vowel is pronounced individually. I think vowels are pronounced similar to this:
A=ah as in pod
E=ay as in day, game
I=ee as in deed, tea
O=o as in dome, load
U=oo as in new, tomb
