If you look at the popularity charts on the site you can see the popularity surge for the name Kyle in the 50s in America. You can never really tell what specific person influences a certain name but you can speculate on the given evidence.
The name has consistenly been very popular in Britain (at least recently) though and no-one has heard of either of them over here (certainly not on a large scale).
