Alexi
I know the male name Alexi is a variant of Alexander, but where is the Alexi spelling most common?
I found a website that said it was Finnish, but I couldn't find anything to back that up.
Does anyone know?Thank you.ETA: Pronounced something like ah-layk-chi.ETA: Apparently, it's Greek. Thanks.

The letter X doesn't really exist in the Finnish language, but if it were used it would be for foreign words and names. The Finnish form of the name is Aleksi. Considering the popularity of Alex- names around the world, I think the fact that Alexi isn't even in the database sheds some light on its popularity.

I know. I was a little disappointed to find it wasn't in the database.
I thought it would be much easier than this.
The boy I know with this name has a Romany background, but I know that many of their names come from outside cultures and they just adopt them.
It may be the Romany form, but I wasn't sure.
They pronounce it something like "AH-leck-chi" or "AH-layk-chi" and most of his American friends just call him Alex.

Wikipedia lists a couple Finnish Alexi's. I guess it's a local form of Alexis. I also found the name on notable Greek-Americans, in which case it's probably used instead of Alexios.Sorry that wasn't too helpful.

I asked the family and they said it's used commonly as a pet form in Greece.
Thanks!
