I met a girl on the internet, her name is MERSINA. She says, it's Bosnian and just made up. What do you think?

Basically, Mersina, Mersini, Mirsina, Mirsini etc are all derivants of one Greek name: Myrsine.
Myrsine [mër-see-nee] is the female form of Greek Myrtus/Myrtos meaning Myrtle. Myrtle also derives from Myrtus.

Well, there's a town in Turkey called Mersin, so it might have been derived from that.

They seem to be deriving it from Mercy, which in Latin originally meant Wages and came to mean something like Reward ... no idea when it was first used in English as a name, but I'd guess the Puritans rather than the Anglo-Saxons.
