Tharkay is a Tibetan surname, most famously belonging to Ang Tharkay, one of the first folks to climb Mt. Everest. It can possibly be used as a first name, but I haven't seen it as thus yet.

You've tried asking on the surname board? There are other websites that are just for last names and meaning. You could do a google search for websites that deal with last names and their meaning, not the name itself.
