Re: 2009 SSA List
Babynames.com's list is a list of names that the members of the site have on their "Favorites" list. It is NOT a list of the names most often given to babies in the last year and was never meant to be. It has some value as a list that predicts what names might become more common in the next decade or so, but it's not the same sort of popularity list as a listing of the names that were used in the last year like the SSA list. Babynames.com is also an international list since not all their members live in the USA. The only thing I can find on gerber.com is a reprint of the top ten of the SSA list for the year 2006. Is there a 2009 list on their site somewhere?

I've been so spacey lately, I have no idea why I said Gerber. It was babycenter.com. http://www.babycenter.com/top-baby-names-2009

Thanks.
As for babycenter, their list says "Our data comes from hundreds of thousands of parents who shared their baby's name with us in 2009."Well, who were these parents? They weren't a random sample of the USA or the world. You can tell they aren't a random sample of the USA because of the lack of mostly Hispanic names on the list. For example, if they had a proportionate number of Hispanics, Angel would almost certainly be on their top 100 list, as it will almost certainly be on the top 100 SSA list when it comes out in May.
